Iris In Iowa

While in Iowa in May, my sister showed me a patch of iris that someone had been planting and working for a year or two. At the time I was there they had done no maintenance to it thus far this year and it was a bit overgrown with weeds, but still made for a great picture taking spot. It isn’t often you see iris with this kind of background.

I have always found bearded iris to be a beautiful flower. So many varieties of color, and such a big and impressive flower structure. From a photography standpoint, these are some of the harder flowers to photograph simply because they are big and complex, and so much of it is hidden from view at any angle. They certainly do not cater to macro photography, since all you can get at that level is a little tiny bit of that big beautiful flower.
