Trying Something New

Golden Glow at Slate Creek

I am heading into a new realm that most of you have probably never heard of because it is very new. This realm is NFTs which stands for Non-Fungible Tokens. By using the Blockchains which give us Cryptocurrency like Bitcoin, you can mint a NFT that serves as a Certificate of Authenticity for a digital work. This now gives artists and creators a means to prove that they created a digital asset, and the NFT can be sold and resold to collectors. This has only come about in the last couple of years so don’t feel bad if you have never heard of it. I had not until last week.

My new adventure is going to begin with this image.

On a beautiful summer morning, I arrived at Slate Creek Wetlands shortly after dawn to hike and take pictures. The mile long path begins at the road and winds through prairie land as it makes its way to a pond near the creek. You could see a lot of mist in the lower part of the prairie.

As I made my way downhill, there was a point where the path made a bend and there before me was this glorious golden glow beneath a tree with the sun shining through it.

This picture was taken July 14, 2019 at 6:33 AM. I used a Nikon D7500 with a Sigma 150-500mm lens. Settings were: 1/250 f/11 150mm ISO 180.

Slate Creek Wetlands is in Sumner County, Kansas just a few miles from Wellington where I live.

This is the general area

This shows the path of Slate Creek as it heads for the river.

This shows the path I was walking. Not really sure which tree it would have been, but had to be center of the picture.
