Garden of the Gods

Pikes Peak

I got an opportunity to swing through the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs last weekend. I drove through, and took just a few pictures as I was on my way elsewhere. Such a gorgeous place!

Another view of PIkes Peak.

At Balanced Rock, the formation looks like red concrete.

Many layers make up these rocks.

Sunshine and snow.

Balanced Rock

On my homeward trip, I detoured through the Wet Mountains as a scouting mission for future spots. There are a bunch! I am sure I will be visiting a few in the next year. As I was driving along, a herd of elk jumped up out of a stream bed below the road and I only had time to grab my camera off the seat, and point it out the window. Two shots and I managed to get some elk in both.

I was surprised that I got any elk in the picture!

Hard to get a good shot when you are driving 30 mph on a twisty mountain road.
