More Loess Bluffs Preserve Pictures

In the glow before dawn, geese jockey for the leader position as a huge flock rises off of the water.

More pictures from my stop at Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge in Missouri. This is a good sized preserve that features a ten mile long auto loop tour that takes you out through the various ponds and habitats. I am positive this will not be my last visit.

The abandoned muskrat houses are a very popular place to sit.

I saw quite a few eagles while I was there. I saw two nests that each had a pair of adults, and there were probably a dozen juveniles of varying ages.

This nest is surprisingly close to the road. However it is still well protected as it would be tough to get to.

Not long after sunrise, surveying their kingdom.

A young bald eagle enjoying the sun while watching for a meal.

These were the only sandhill cranes that I saw, but they were close to the road.

American coots were thick throughout the marsh.

Fall colors make for a pretty road.

The yellow of autumn.

Reflections of fall.

Nicely framed.
